Finding things to do on this Island

The Blow Hole

Hiking Manoa Falls on Saturday after Christmas was not our first choice. We wanted to do Diamond Head but so did eveyone else, we wound around to the blow hole and took pictures of that then found the Manoa Valley to find a waterfall. Very different from any other Christmas Vacation.

Tim has some time off. I bought him a book for hiking in HI and we have been trying to explore other areas of HI besides the beaches. Not that the beaches aren't great but we mountain people definately need to get up high or into some trees. The falls were great. The rain forest is a nice break from the hot sun. A great place to cool off.

See slide show below for pics of the falls.

Manoa Falls

Diamond Head

Today we hiked Diamond Head. It is only a mile up. Glad we got up early before the sun beat down on the shadeless trail. Very cool views only we mananged to forget the camera. We headed back down the mountain (excuse me...crater)only to realize we left Mack. He didn't realize we were gone until I was almost back to where we left him so he wasn't too scared but I felt like the worst mother in the world.
I included a website about Diamond Head if you would like to see it. Just click on the title!

hooded towels with pockets

Tim's mom made these hooded towels, each with a pocket or two in the front for goggles, sunscreen etc... Nora looks like a baby Ewok!

Christmas Present

I have been looking

for a magnet strong enough to hold all my knives. Although kitchen stores have them a lot of times the magnet will not do the job. Tim's mom found this at a hardware store (2 of them). It is suppose to hold tools....wrenches and such. This is much better than the ones you can find in a kitchen store. This will hold my heavy Wusthof without worry of damage from a fall.
